I understand that life can be challenging and it's sometimes not always easy to talk. My mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings and gain insight into your life.

About me and how it works

Alongside my private practice I have worked as the head of therapy services and mental health/safeguarding support in the education sector and am presently the lead counsellor at a sixth form college. I have over 30 years experience working in mental health support.

Therapy can help us make sense of our emotions. Sometimes people can feel they are repeating patterns of behaviour or thoughts which are unhelpful, painful or creating conflicts with themselves and their relationships.

In therapy traumatic experiences can be shared  for the first time and  acknowledged, recognised and processed in a safe, boundaried and supportive environment.

As a therapist I am compassionate and non-judgmental and my aim is to guide you through your journey with warmth and understanding. I am a registered member of the BACP and I work confidentially and within the BACP ethical framework.

Psychodynamic therapy

Psychodynamic therapy  focuses on conscious and unconscious processes as they are manifested in a person's present behaviour. It emphasises the importance of the individual's personal history and the role that past experiences play in current behaviour.

In therapy I can try to help you identify, understand, and work through emotions, thoughts, and motivations that may be negatively impacting your life. I integrate other modalities and adapt the therapy for each individual. The therapy aims to uncover the roots of issues in order to facilitate the healing process.

Length of therapy

Each person  is so unique so it’s hard to specify. It can be weeks, months or years, however the minimum is usually 6 weeks.

Typically, sessions are weekly, but sometimes every two weeks can be beneficial.

First session

The first session is free of charge, its a chance to meet and talk about why you feel you would like therapy, for you to ask any questions you may have and for myself to ask some questions to assess if this type of therapy would suit you.

Its a good idea to meet a few therapists before you decide who you would like to work with and to feel the therapist is the right 'fit' for you.

Costs

Sessions cost £60 for 50 minutes.
